Positive Behaviour Support for Aged Care

Positive Behaviour Support for Aged Care

At Create A Sense of Place, we address the critical issue of extensive waitlists that older individuals and care recipients with disabilities or medical diagnoses often face before receiving necessary support. Discussions with numerous Aged Care providers have highlighted this challenge, and we are dedicated to mitigating it through our comprehensive services.

We are passionate about empowering individuals to improve their quality of life, with a strong emphasis on enabling them to maintain their independence in their own homes for as long as possible. We believe that for many, ‘home’ is a sanctuary of comfort and happiness, and our goal is to support them in preserving this cherished environment.

Our Behaviour Support Practitioners possess the expertise to effectively support individuals exhibiting a range of behaviours in home, community, and residential aged care settings. We understand the vital importance of the relationships between older individuals, their families, and caregivers to their overall wellbeing. Recognising that supporting a family member often requires a collaborative effort, we actively involve trusted individuals (with consent) to enhance the quality of life for the people we support.

Our approach is deeply rooted in respecting and prioritising the rights, safety, and quality of life of all individuals. We adhere to the following principles in our therapeutic approach:

  • Human Rights Oriented
  • Person-Centred
  • Trauma-Informed
  • Strengths-Focused

Our tailored strategies focus on understanding each individual’s unique needs and preferences, fostering an environment where they feel valued and respected. At Create A Sense of Place, we are dedicated to providing exceptional behaviour support within the aged care space, utilising person-centred approaches that prioritise participant wellbeing and dignity.

Our Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Brigette Kirkpatrick, established Create A Sense of Place in response to a significant demand for authentic and passionate service provision within the NDIS sector. Brigette is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals through personalised support. Since beginning operations in the Hunter region in 2016, our organisation has been dedicated to providing exemplary support to the community. Our services are now available across NSW, QLD, WA, and nationwide via tele-health

Our steadfast commitment to achieving positive outcomes has earned us the highest level of accreditation from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for Positive Behaviour Support. We align our services with the Aged Care Quality Standards of Australia, ensuring we provide safe, respectful, and high-quality care tailored to each individual’s needs. Through our dedicated and person-centred approach, we strive to support participants in improving their wellbeing and preserving their dignity.
