Our Charity - Shibui Services Inc
About Shibui
Shibui Services was founded by CASoP CEO Brigette Kirkpatrick and fellow Colleague Emily Bielfeld after witnessing the continuous abuse that people living with disability are subjected to, whether that be directly or due to the systemic discrimination that we operate in.
Shibui’s aims are to support people with disability to live a life free from harm.
Some of the services we offer are:
Advocacy
We support people with NDIS reviews, including Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) reviews. Many of our Create A Sense of Place Support Coordination team donate their time throughout the year to support people through this process that do not have any current NDIS funding available.
CREWS
Confidence. Resillience. Education. WellBeing. Safety
Shibui obtained Information Linkages and Capacity (ILC) funding through the Department of Social Services to design and deliver educational programs to people living with disability at risk of abuse.
We have developed and implemented educational Programs led by Facilitators and Peer Mentors. These programs are aimed at educating and supporting Persons with a Disability to recognise Abuse. The Programs focus on developing an understanding of Healthy & Unhealthy Relationships and skills to develop and maintain Healthy & Safe relationships. These programs are currently running in the Hunter and will continue until the end of the year when funding ceases.
We run the following Programs:
- CREWS Educational Programs: face to face and online delivery of programs, we have womens programs and men’s programs. Our different Programs include topics such as:
- Living with Trauma
- Maintaining A Tenancy
- Having Safe Relationships
- Managing Mental Health
- Consent
- Sexual Education
- Well Being & Self Care
- CREWS Connection Days: Come along for morning tea and connect with your peers! A great way to connect with other people.
- CREWS Tune in Tuesdays: Online short webinars around topic areas of interest such as housing, safe relationships, well being and more.
