“Leadership is not a position, it’s how you behave, how you act.” — Venkatesan, 2020 💜

I began my journey walking alongside people with disability in 2006 as a volunteer—and I’ve never looked back. Over the past 18 years, I’ve supported individuals, families, and teams in a wide range of roles, including support work, mentoring, program coordination, Support Coordination (including Specialist), and as a Proficient-level Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner.

In 2016, I founded Create A Sense of Place (CASoP) in response to a clear need for a values-based, ethically driven organisation—one that prioritises dignity, rights, and inclusion over compliance checklists. Today, I proudly serve as CASoP’s Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, leading a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, rights-based, and neuro-affirming support.

My role spans strategic leadership, program and resource development, NDIS compliance, and mentoring. I design frameworks and tools that encourage both the people we support and our team to live, work, and grow with purpose. No off-the-shelf policies here—everything is built from the ground up, with intention and care.

I’ve developed programs for children and adults focused on healthy relationships, self-determination, and personal growth, always grounded in respect and individualised planning. My leadership is informed by lived experience, ethical practice, and a firm belief in systemic change.

I’m currently completing a Master’s in Disability Practice and Leadership (Developmental Education) and am also a trained mediator—skilled at helping individuals and organisations work through complex conversations and conflict respectfully.

Outside of CASoP, I serve as a Committee Member for Disability Advocacy NSW on their Disability Advocacy Advisory Committee, contributing to systemic reform. In 2021, I co-founded https://shibuiservices.org.au/ , a charity dedicated to supporting people with disability to live free from harm.

Through my work, I remain committed to challenging the systems that limit people’s rights and reimagining what ethical, human-led practice can look like in action.
