Affirming and Respectful

Our Approach

At CASoP, we take an affirming, intersectional approach to every aspect of our work. We recognise that identity is not one-dimensional, and that people’s experiences are shaped by the intersections of disability, neurodivergence, age, gender, culture, race, and other aspects of self.

Our role is to listen deeply, respond respectfully, and walk alongside people in ways that honour their full identity, not just a diagnosis or label. We actively challenge systemic assumptions and create spaces where people feel safe, valued, and understood.

We recognise that feeling seen, heard, and valued is essential to building trust, restoring purpose, and creating a true sense of place.

We are committed to ensuring that our strategies never silence a person, especially those who may already feel unheard. Instead, we prioritise communication, safety, and dignity, recognising that without the ability to express oneself, genuine support cannot take place.

WHAT SETS US APART

Our Practise is:

Trauma-Informed

We embed a trauma-informed approach across all areas of our work, creating emotionally safe, predictable, and responsive environments.

Human Rights Orientated

We prioritise autonomy, choice, and the right to communicate needs and boundaries.

Relationship-Based, Individual-Led

We centre each person in their own care, involving natural supports and building relationships based on mutual respect.

Strengths-Based Philosophy

We focus on what’s strong. Our work celebrates capacity, resilience, and possibility.
