I began working alongside people living with disabilities as a volunteer back in 2006. I have never looked back. During my 18 years, I have attained numerous training and education qualifications, including a Bachelor of Social Welfare, Program Planning in Sexual Health, Positive Behaviour Support and more.
I have also undertaken an array of different roles including support work, mentoring, program coordination and development, Support Coordination, including Specialist, and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner- Proficient Level.
I have developed and implemented programs for kids and adults around building healthy relationships for ourselves, the important people in our life, and people in our community. I have always focused on individual goal setting, planning and achievement for myself and for the people I serve, and for my CASoP team. My aim is to support people to believe in themselves, and find their place in their world, and live a life determined by them.
During my time with CASoP over the last seven years, I have found myself doing so many other roles that come with running a business. Apart from having to be a total NDIS expert, I also write all our policies and procedures (no bought policies here!), create programs and frameworks, provide mentoring and supervision, and develop all our resources and tools so that my team can be the best at what they do!
I am also a busy mum of two, and when I have time, I work on my postgraduate in Counselling, majoring in Grief and Loss. I understand how important it is to talk things through, and most importantly, just having someone to listen to you without judgement.
I am passionate about equality for all, and I will always strive to have people’s voices heard, and do what I can to ensure people with a disability are living a life free from harm. If you would like to know more about the work that I do in this area, please check out my charity here that I founded with fellow colleague Emily Bielefeld: www.shibuiservices.org.au
In October 2021, I was honoured to be elected as a Board Member for Disability Advocacy NSW for their Disability Advocacy Advisory Committee. This provides me with opportunity to make a difference at a systemic level.
I am also a trained Mediator. This means that I am highly skilled at both navigating and facilitating difficult situations in a positive way. I am also happy for people to utilise my skills in this area if they are facing a difficult situation.
I love talking to people and sharing my passion. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would just like to have a chat, have any questions about the NDIS or would just like to know more.
